Ukraine's Energy Ministry gives IAEA list of technical, safety indicators to be checked during Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant mission
Ukraine's Energy Ministry has discussed with the IAEA and handed the mission a list of technical and safety indicators that are important to be checked by international experts during their visit to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant
The head of the ministry, Herman Halushchenko, wrote about this on Facebook.
"Today, the IAEA mission begins important work, the likes of which have not been seen in the entire history of the organization. We highly appreciate the efforts of the IAEA Director General and his team, aimed at ensuring the nuclear safety of our state and the world due to the extraordinary threats resulting from the actions of the Russian military at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant occupied by them. Conclusions and recommendations based on the results of the mission will be implemented when the station is returned to our control. The station must be returned to the full control of Ukraine. The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is a Ukrainian nuclear power plant, and only Ukraine is able to guarantee the fulfillment of all components of operational safety", he wrote.
The minister also added that after deoccupation of the station, an important stage will be the creation of a demilitarized zone around it.
"We jointly discussed and handed over to the mission a list of technical and safety indicators that are important for international experts to check during a visit to the station. The successful implementation of all tasks by the mission will be of great importance for the nuclear safety of not only Ukraine, but also the whole world", Herman Halushchenko added.
