Ukraine's Armed Forces shoot down Russian warplane over Donbas
On Saturday, December 3, 2022, Ukraine's Armed Forces shot down the aggressor country's warplane in the combat zone in Donetsk region
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
“An enemy aircraft was shot down in the area of the Pidhorodne settlement in the Donetsk region,” the Ukrainian command notes.
However, apart from the place of the event, there are currently no other official details.
“Information about its type is being clarified,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff noted.
Military journalist Andrii Tsaplienko says that it is about the Su-34 fighter-bomber.
Border guards hit the aircraft, according to him.
“When the Russian "Su" got into the zone of probable damage next to the positions of the Ukrainian State Border Service soldiers, the MANPADS calculation immediately worked on it. The missile landed an enemy aircraft,” Tsaplienko noted.
This happened, the reporter adds, “on the outskirts of Bakhmut.” This coincides with the localization of the place of destruction of the Russian board from the General Staff.
The Pidhorodne settlement is the northeastern suburb of Bakhmut.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the aircraft was shot down by border guards.
“And now I would like to separately thank the border guards of the Chop detachment, who are fighting in the Bakhmut direction and today "landed" another aircraft of the occupiers,” the head of state emphasized in his daily address.
