Ukraine's Armed Forces destroy 20% of Russian army's formations - Defense Express expert

Ukraine's Armed Forces have defeated 20% of the Russian army's formations, including a key one feared by NATO

Defense Express expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi shared the details with Espreso TV.

"Fortunately for us, the battle reports do not include the elite 1st Tank Army, which was aimed at seizing Kyiv in three days and threatening NATO countries. It turns out that the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the formation that NATO feared. As for the defeat of other formations - the Russians conducted a trick: when in the first weeks of the fighting, this or that brigade suffered catastrophic losses in equipment and manpower, they withdrew them and saturated them with marginals from various regions of Russia", he noted.

The expert added that from a formal point of view, they kept the brigade, but the fighting capacity is not the same.

"As a vivid example, the 200th Motorized Rifle Brigade, which was stationed near Finland, then tried to seize Kharkiv and was defeated. Now the battalion-tactical groups from the brigade, formally existing on paper, are trying to achieve some combat success in the East of Ukraine", he said.

He emphasized that their quality and success have fallen, so there is no combat result from such a formation.

"Also, you analyze that other units were not the same as at the beginning of the war. There are preliminary estimates that from the group of troops that entered Ukraine on February 24, about 20,000 Russian soldiers remained alive. This is a preliminary figure that requires clarification. All this serves to confirm the words that the Ukrainian Armed Forces defeated 20% of all formations of the Russian army", the expert concluded.
