Ukraine’s air defense destroy 23 out of 25 Russian cruise missiles 

During two waves of attacks on Ukraine, on the night of May 9, Russian forces launched 25 Kalibr and Kh-101/Kh-555 missiles. The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 23 of them

This was announced by the AFU Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhnyi on Telegram.

He reported that the enemy attacked Ukraine's territory with sea and air-launched cruise missiles. At around 10:00 p.m. on May 8, the enemy fired eight Kalibr cruise missiles from carriers in the Black Sea towards the eastern regions of Ukraine. All eight were destroyed by the air defense forces of the Air Command East. 

According to Serhiy Lysak, the head of Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, the military successfully intercepted all eight rockets that were directed towards the Dnipropetrovsk region. Debris fell on a four-story building in Dnipro, injuring a 32-year-old woman who is currently in the hospital. The roof and ceilings of several apartments were damaged, and the missile's warhead was discovered on the third floor. Several dozen residents were evacuated while explosives engineers worked to remove the dangerous debris, which has now been destroyed.

Closer to 04:00 on May 9, the Russians launched 17 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles from strategic aircraft, including four Tu-95ms in the Caspian region. The air defense forces and means of the Air Command Center destroyed 14 cruise missiles, and one more was destroyed in the area of responsibility of the Air Command South. In total, 15 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles were destroyed.

"In total, during two waves of shelling on the night of May 9, 2023, the Russian occupiers launched 25 Kalibr 2 and Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles," he emphasized. The Anti-aircraft defense of the AFU Air Force in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, managed to destroy 23 of them.
