Ukraine will not wait for F-16s to launch counteroffensive – President Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Western partners to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighters, while emphasizing that the lack of modern aircraft would not affect the launch of Ukraine’s counteroffensive
He made the statement in an interview with Finnish, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian media.
Answering the question whether the decision to provide Ukraine with aircraft is crucial for the launch of a counteroffensive, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that "it would help a lot."
"We realize that we will not delay this much, so we will start even before we have F-16s or other aircraft. Appeasing Russia that we still need a few months to train on the aircraft, and only then will we start... No, it will not be like that. We will start and move forward," he added.
At the same time, Zelenskyy noted that in the meanwhile countries still should make a decision on aircraft supply.
