US President Joe Biden reiterated support for Kyiv on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“I'll repeat today what I said one year ago as Russia invaded Ukraine. A dictator bent on rebuilding an empire will never erase the people’s love of liberty. Brutality will never grind down the will of the free. And Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia. Never,” he tweeted.
The American leader emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are successfully regaining their land, and now more than half of the territories that Russia occupied last year are back under the Ukrainian flag.
“Today, a year after bombs began to fall, Ukraine is still independent and free. From Kherson to Kharkiv – Ukrainian fighters have reclaimed their land. And in more than half of the territory Russia held last year, the Ukrainian flag proudly waves once more,” Biden noted.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Ukrainians on the anniversary of the full-scale invasion and thanked everyone who defended the country from the occupying Russian forces.
