Journalist on rare earth metals deal between U.S. and Ukraine: Story has slightly anecdotal nature
This was announced by Vadym Sukharevskyi, the commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, at the conference "European Defense Industry: Prospects for Cooperation with Ukraine's Defense Industry."
The Ukrainian laser system Tryzub can destroy enemy aerial bombs, cruise and ballistic missiles at a distance of up to 3 km, while it can target helicopters, aircraft, and reconnaissance drones up to 5 km.
Additionally, the weapon can be used to blind drones, cruise missiles, helicopters, and aircraft at distances up to 10 km.
"We can state that today Ukraine is, if I'm not mistaken, the fifth country that can say it has a laser system. Currently, we can shoot down aircraft with this laser at heights of over 2 km," emphasized Sukharevskyi.
