Unidentified persons shoot at deputy mayor's car in Nikopol, he dies on spot

On February 8, unidentified persons shot at a car carrying the deputy mayor of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region. The man died from his injuries

The press service of the regional prosecutor's office reported.

"According to the investigation, on February 8, 2024, on a street in Nikopol, unidentified persons shot a car carrying the deputy mayor with unidentified firearms. As a result of the shelling, the man died on the spot," the statement said.

Proceedings have been opened over the premeditated murder (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Urgent investigative actions are currently underway to identify the persons involved in the crime.

According to the National Police press service, the incident occurred around 9 am. As a result of the shelling, the car caught fire, and after it was extinguished, the body of a 59-year-old man was found inside.

The police already have a description of the attacker, so a search is underway.
