Ukraine's negotiation strength relies on four major factors - General Kryvonos

Major General Serhiy Kryvonos believes that it is important for Ukraine to switch the economy to martial law, prepare mobilization resources and fortifications, and actively cooperate with partners

He said this on Espreso TV.

"As for whether the Kursk region can become a subject of negotiations with Putin, it is difficult to say, firstly, because no negotiations have started yet. The extent of territory we hold in the Kursk region is one thing, and the extent we might lose due to Russia's offensive in Donbas is quite another. Therefore, planning, speculating, and dreaming about such scenarios are only possible when you have four powerful factors within the state. The first is that the economy fully supports the Armed Forces, meaning the economy has been switched to martial law," said the major general.

According to him, the second factor is that Ukraine is actively preparing a mobilization resource in the right quantity and with high quality, namely people who know how to fight, are well-trained, and well-provided for.

"Thirdly, we need the right amount and quality of fortifications on Ukrainian territory. And not just the structures themselves, because, as the experience of recent battles in the Pokrovsk sector shows, there were structures, but no one was in them. That's why the enemy was able to advance relatively easily, as the number of people defending these structures was minimal, or almost zero. And the fourth factor is active cooperation with our partners, who, understanding that we have problems in some areas due to, to put it mildly, not entirely professional activities of certain leaders within the state, provide us with military and technical assistance. These are the four factors that could indicate confident behavior during negotiations with Russia," Serhiy Kryvonos summarized.

  • On September 5, Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer said that his country was ready to serve as a platform for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
  • On September 13, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun said that the only solution to end the war in Ukraine and Gaza is negotiations.
