This was reported by the Ministry of Defense’s official partner platform, Partner of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Central Directorate for Material Support Development has approved the new MM-25 camouflage pattern for official use. It will now be used to produce military apparel for Ukrainian troops.

The official design has not yet been made public, but according to sources like Boroshno News and First Division, MM-25 closely resembles the Multicam pattern used by NATO forces and performs well in a wide range of terrain.

There is no confirmed timeline for the full transition. Given the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the switch could take several years. It also remains unclear when the first batches of the new uniform will be delivered to military units.

Veteran and head of the Public Anti-Corruption Council under Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense Yuriy Hudymenko has clarified that Ukraine’s transition to a new camouflage pattern will be gradual, with the current “pixel” design (MM-14) continuing to coexist alongside the new Multicam (MM-25) for the foreseeable future. "Do not rush to bury the pixel," he wrote on Facebook, adding that no decision has been made on a full replacement.

What is Multicam?

Multicam is a camouflage pattern developed in 2002 by the American company Crye Precision in cooperation with the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center (Natick Labs). It features irregular spots in seven colors, designed to blend effectively into various terrains and lighting conditions.

Multicam uniforms are widely used by several NATO countries and U.S. allies, including:

  • Britain (since 2010)
  • Australia (since 2014)
  • U.S. (since 2015)
  • Germany (since 2016)
  • France (since 2024)

This pattern has proven to be a versatile and effective camouflage for combat in forest, desert, mountain, and urban environments.
