Ukraine tests analog of Iranian-made Shahed UAV - military expert Kovalenko
Ukraine has a sample drone that is analogous to Iranian Shahed-136\131 drones - it is currently undergoing testing
Military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko told about this on Espreso.
"There are two types of UAVs: for strike and reconnaissance and kamikaze drones. These are the Shahed-136\131. Russians do not use them in the combat zone, but in the rear. In the combat zone, they, like us, use commercial drones that have been converted into strike drones, as well as Lancet barrage munitions," he said.
According to Kovalenko, the Russian forces have an advantage when it comes to barrage munitions.
"They create a lot of problems for us, but we have learned to counteract them. We are currently using commercial drones as efficiently as possible, both in the kamikaze format and as strike drones to drop certain explosives on manpower and equipment. We have this advantage," the expert added.
He emphasized that Ukraine does not yet have an advantage in using long-range kamikaze drones like the Shahed-136.
"In the future, it may be - our technical and technological capabilities are so advanced that we have a sample of such a UAV, but it is being tested. When it is used, we will hear and learn about it. There is a relative parity in terms of drones," Kovalenko summarized.
