Ukraine should take advantage of Putin's mistake and continue counteroffensive - ISW
The ceasefire is now necessary for Putin to regroup his forces, but he continues the offensive, which is a mistake from a military point of view. Ukraine should take advantage of this mistake and continue the counteroffensive on favorable terms
This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
The message says that any ceasefire now would benefit Russia. Russian troops need time to recover and integrate the newly mobilized.
"The fact that Putin continues to whip his generals to offensives in these circumstances is thus a grave error from a military perspective. It likely results from whatever psychological factors led Putin to order the invasion in the first place but also increasingly from Putin’s need to show his toughness to the hardline faction led, at least in public, by Wagner financier Yevgeny Prigozhin," ISW writes.
The Institute for the Study of War emphasizes that Ukraine should take advantage of this mistake by Putin and continue the counteroffensive under conditions that are more favorable for Kyiv than for Moscow. It is noted that Ukraine has not yet liberated the territories minimally necessary for its own security. Despite the liberation of Kherson, Melitopol, the ZNPP, the east of the Dnipro, and Donetsk and Luhansk regions are vital territories for Ukraine. Their release will protect our country from future attacks by the Russian Federation and help restore the economy.
The message states, that Kyiv should take advantage of the breakthrough that is happening at the front and get the maximum benefit from it.
