Volodymyr Khandogiy, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2009 and ex-head of Ukraine's mission to NATO, told it "Espreso.TV" live on air.
"The model of security guarantees before joining NATO can and should be applied to Ukraine. We understand that tomorrow Article 5 of the Washington Treaty, which is a guarantee, will not be formally extended to Ukraine. In any case, we should propose that for the period before joining we receive temporary guarantees, like Sweden and Finland. Moreover, today we are negotiating guarantees. They should be a temporary structure until Ukraine's full accession to NATO," Khandogiy said.
