Ukraine should attack airfields that Russia uses to launch cruise missiles - retired US general

Airfields used by Russian aircraft must be attacked to counter strikes by Russian aircraft with cruise missiles

This was stated by General Frederick Ben Hodges, the ex-commander of the US Army in Europe.

"When we talk about missiles, especially cruise missiles, launched from the territory of Russia and Belarus, then in order to counter them, it is necessary to attack the airfields from which such aircraft (aircraft that launch cruise missiles - editor's note) take off. Or it is needed to find a method to disrupt the logistics of supplying such missiles to the launch sites," General Hodges said.

In turn, in the Parliament of Great Britain, MPs from the Conservative and Labor parties made statements in support of the transfer to Ukraine of American F-15e, F-16, as well as other Western interceptors needed to counter Russian cruise missiles.

Earlier, the head of the Center for Defense Reforms, coordinator of the interdepartmental platform for countering hybrid threats, which carries out its activities within the framework of Ukraine-NATO cooperation, Oleksandr Danylyuk, stated that guided cruise missiles, which are used by the Russian Armed Forces to strike targets of the military and civilian infrastructure of Ukraine, are effective, as they operate at low altitudes and are invisible to the Ukrainian air defense system. According to him, Western countries should hand over F-15e, F-16, as well as other Western interceptors to Ukraine to effectively counter attacks by cruise missiles of the Russian Armed Forces.
