This is reported by Welt am Sonntag, citing its own sources.
It is noted that the vast majority of refugees will go to Western Europe, and Germany will be one of the countries of destination. Currently, there are 1.1 million Ukrainian citizens in Germany who have entered the country since 2022.
At the same time, the German government's forecasts assume that Ukraine has the military and financial capabilities to maintain its defense and stability until the end of 2024.
"If we do not change our strategy of supporting Ukraine, the worst-case scenario of a mass exodus from Ukraine and the spread of the war to NATO countries will become the most likely. Ten million refugees is a lower assumption," said politician Roderich Kiesewetter.
- In an interview with the German TV channel ARD, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his desire for all Ukrainians who left the country illegally to return home, as the issue is that they have to pay taxes to Ukraine.
