Ukraine receives first EUR 500 million in EU aid, with a further EUR 500 million tranche to come August 2 - Shmyhal

The European Union has allocated EUR 1 billion of exceptional macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. The first EUR 500 million is already in the account of the National Bank of Ukraine. The second, equal, tranche is expected on August 2

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal shared the news in Telegram.

"The European Union has sent €1 billion of exceptional macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. The first tranche of €500 million has already been credited to the NBU account. We expect the arrival of the second tranche tomorrow," writes Shmyhal.

The minister also noted that €1 billion from the EU is part of a large package of support for Ukraine in overcoming the financial consequences of the war in the total amount of €9 billion. Ukraine will use these funds to finance the priority needs of the budget.
