Ukraine ready to take deported orphans at Russian border with any EU country
Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk says that Ukraine is ready to pick up deported orphans at the Russian border with any EU country
The Ministry of Reintegration's press service reported that the return of deported children is a long process.
“Sometimes the search, all the necessary procedures and the journey take many months. In this way, 327 children have already been taken from the territory of the Russian Federation. And if the children have parents, they do it. For orphans and children deprived of parental care, the state is both father and mother,” Vereshchuk said.
She described in detail the mechanism by which Ukraine is ready to take back the orphans who were forcibly removed by Russia.
“As a representative of the government, I officially express my readiness to take all our orphans. To do this, I propose the following mechanism. With the mediation of international organizations – the UN, ICRC or others – we are ready to come to any European country bordering Russia. For example, to Estonia, to Narva. And there we will pick up all the Ukrainian orphans who are now being illegally detained by Russia,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
