Zelenskyy holds first ever talks with King of Bahrain

The Ukrainian leader announced this on Telegram.

"This is the first conversation with the leader of Bahrain in the history of bilateral relations. Last year, Bahraini Foreign Minister Al-Zayani paid his first visit to Ukraine. I hope that the establishment of contacts at the highest level will open a new page in Ukrainian-Bahraini relations," Zelenskyy said.

The conversation focused on food security and the implementation of Ukraine's peace plan.

"We discussed bilateral cooperation, global food security and support for the Peace Formula. I thanked the representative of Bahrain for participating in previous meetings of the advisers on the implementation of the Peace Formula and invited him to the next meeting to be held in Davos. He spoke about efforts to ensure global food stability," the President said.

Bahrain is an Arab island state in the Middle East that encompasses more than 30 islands in the Persian Gulf. In ancient times, it was a major center of trade.

• In December 2022, Zelenskyy appointed an ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain. It was Dmytro Senik, who is also Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates.
