Ukraine opens embassy in Ghana
Ukraine has officially launched its embassy in Accra, the capital of Ghana, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba reported it.
"Last year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy set a goal for the Ukrainian diplomatic service to establish new embassies in Africa. I'm pleased to announce that the first one is now operational in Ghana. We're committed to opening more in the near future."
This move aligns with Ukraine's broader strategy for enhancing ties with Africa, known as the Ukrainian-African Renaissance. Minister Kuleba emphasized that the expansion of diplomatic presence serves as a crucial step in countering Russian influence globally. Additionally, he highlighted the potential benefits for Ukraine, including opportunities for the state, businesses, and citizens.
Minister Kuleba revealed plans for upcoming embassies in Rwanda, Mozambique, and Botswana. Ukraine aims to establish a total of ten new embassies across the African continent.
- Ukraine had announced its intention to open an embassy in Ghana back in October 2022, aiming to strengthen its presence in Africa.
