Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, said this during the telethon.
"The increase in missiles was predictable. The Main Intelligence Directorate reported that 2 months ago there were about 600 missiles. We see that the numbers have increased. There have been no attacks with cruise and ballistic missiles for a long time, so the conclusions are very simple - obviously, Russia is accumulating them... Accordingly, the Defense Forces must prepare for certain risks of attacks on critical infrastructure and other military and strategic facilities of the state," Ihnat said.
According to the spokesman, the current focus of air defense is on the energy sector, which will be targeted by Russian soldiers, as well as port facilities in the south.
"The number of weapons is important today because of the vast territories and the small radius of destruction of air defense systems, which is why the number and, most importantly, the ammunition that can deliver results are important," Ihnat noted.
The Air Force spokesman said that Russia has quite a few cruise missile launchers.
"The fact that another ship, which could have been another launch vehicle, was successfully hit is very good. They have already sent more than one such ship to the bottom, but they have enough means to launch Kalibrs. They have more of a problem with missiles than with launchers. Similarly, they have enough Tu-95 and Tu-160 airplanes. Therefore, it is about the number of missiles they have and can launch," Ihnat said.
