Ukraine hopes to harvest near-record grain crop due to weather conditions
Ukraine expects to harvest up to 76.7 million tons this year, which is 5% more than in 2022. The improved forecast is due to favorable weather conditions
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Denys Bashlyk, the press service of the Ministry reports.
He recalled that Ukrainian farmers have been harvesting crops in difficult conditions for the second year in a row, under the constant threat of shelling.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, this year Ukrainian farmers can harvest about 56.4 million tons of grain and 20.3 million tons of oilseeds.
"Due to favorable weather conditions, we have every reason to revise the harvest forecast upwards to 76.7 mln tonnes, which is 5% higher than in 2022. Although the total area of planted spring and winter grains this year was 980 thou hectares less than last year and amounted to 10,895 thou hectares, the weather conditions contributed to almost record grain yields, which allows us to significantly increase the harvest," said Denys Bashlyk.
