Ukraine hits oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region
On the night of August 24, 2025, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence and Unmanned Systems Force, in close cooperation with other Defense Forces units, struck Russia’s Syzran oil refinery in Samara region
Ukraine's General Staff reported the information.
According to the report, the plant, with a design capacity of up to 8.5 million tonnes of oil per year — about 3.08% of Russia’s total oil refining volume — specializes in producing gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and other petroleum products supplied to the Russian occupation forces.
Explosions and detonations were recorded at the site. The results of the strike are being clarified.
“The Defense Forces of Ukraine are systematically implementing measures aimed at reducing the combat potential of Russian occupation forces, destabilizing their logistical capabilities, particularly in terms of fuel supply, as well as forcing Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff emphasized.
- During the past day, August 23, Russia’s occupying army lost 910 servicemen in the war against Ukraine. The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed dozens of units of enemyRussian equipment and weaponry.
