
Ukraine eyes stronger air defenses as Defense Minister discusses cooperation with Raytheon
Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with a delegation from the American company Raytheon, which is known for producing the Patriot air defense systems
He shared the update on Facebook.
During talks with Raytheon’s Vice President for Land and Air Defense Systems, Joseph DeAntona, they discussed Ukraine’s critical need for additional systems and missiles to strengthen protection of the country’s airspace.
Umerov emphasized that protecting civilians, critical infrastructure, cities, and villages remains a top priority for the Ukrainian government.
The minister highlighted that Ukraine is ready to invest in developing air defense systems, stressing that this is a matter of citizens’ lives. He also noted that expanding defense industry cooperation with the U.S. is a strategic priority for Ukraine, with deepening ties to Raytheon as a key part of this strategy.
"Ukrainian defense companies are open to cooperation with American manufacturers to make maintenance and support of weapons faster and higher quality," the defense minister said.
