President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Rustem Umerov and the Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, during which they discussed the negotiating track with the Russian side.
The key issue was the implementation of the agreements reached during previous meetings in Istanbul, as well as the preparation of a new meeting within the framework of the negotiations.
"Among the key issues is the continuation of POW exchanges. There is an agreement to exchange 1,200 people, and work on the lists is ongoing," the president noted, adding that Umerov reported on communication with the Russian representative on this issue.
In parallel, Ukraine is making efforts to unblock the return of civilians who are still illegally detained in Russia. Information on each surname is being processed, Zelenskyy assured.
Yermak spoke about interaction with key international partners who support Ukrainian diplomacy in this process, in particular, about contacts with the American side. Separately, he informed about efforts to return Ukrainian children who were abducted and forcibly taken to Russia.
Zelenskyy and Umerov also discussed the next meetings of the Headquarters and the topics of the reports. Among them are the preparation of the energy sector and critical infrastructure for the autumn-winter period, as well as the development of air defense and strikes on enemy logistics in the rear.
The President noted that an audit of the implementation of the decisions of the NSDC and the Headquarters is ongoing, and, unfortunately, some of them have not yet been implemented. According to Zelenskyy, those responsible for these areas must immediately eliminate the shortcomings.
