Ukraine does not plan to use F-16 jets in summer counteroffensive
Ukrainian Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov stated that the Defense Forces will not utilize F-16 fighter jets during the upcoming summer counteroffensive
He said this in an interview with the Japanese publication NHK.
Regarding Ukraine's desire to acquire F-16 fighter jets, Reznikov acknowledged that their arrival would not change the situation this summer. Some Western nations have initiated or planned training programs for Ukrainian pilots who will operate these aircraft. Reznikov emphasized the need for time to train pilots and the necessity of coordinating with partners to train engineers and technical personnel responsible for the maintenance and repair of these sophisticated planes.
The Minister of Defense stated that Ukraine anticipates being ready to deploy F-16s in the autumn or winter.

On May 20, the Ministry of Defense announced their expectation of receiving the first batch of modern American F-16 fighter jets in the fall of 2023. The country aims to acquire a total of 40-50 planes.
