Ukraine detains record number of men crossing to Belarus in 2025
Ukraine's Border Guard Service reports that in 2025, 911 men aged 18 to 60 have been detained on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. This is twice as many as in the previous three years of Russia's full-scale invasion

This is stated in the response of Ukraine's Border Guard Service to a request from Slidstvo.Info.
From January 1 to August 1, 2025, 911 men attempted to cross the border outside official checkpoints, which is double the total number for 2022–2024.
Specifically, 61 men were detained in 2022 (all in Volyn,), 26 in 2023 (24 in Volyn and 2 in Rivne regions), and 336 in 2024 (164 in Rivne, 112 in Zhytomyr, 58 in Volyn, and 2 in Kyiv, all northern and northeastern regions bordering Belarus).
The most attempts to cross into Russia’s ally Belarus were in Rivne region, with 531 cases during the war. Zhytomyr saw 484 detentions, Volyn 281, and Kyiv 38. Volyn was the only region with attempted crossings in the first year of the full-scale war.
