Ukraine destroys Putin's plans: Borrell slams Orban's claim on impossibility of defeating Russia
EU defense ministers disagree with those who say that Ukraine cannot win a war with Russia
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said this after the Council meeting at the level of defense ministers on May 23, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“The ministers do not agree with those who say that Ukraine cannot win this war and we should stop supporting them. We do not. On the contrary. Ukraine is doing well. This confuses Putin's plans for a quick victory. Ukraine is able to defend itself,” Borrell emphasized.
He stated that the total amount of support provided by the EU - economic, military, humanitarian, financial, and for refugees - has already reached EUR 65 billion.
“This means that we are leaders in supporting Ukraine, and we will continue to play this role,” the EU's top diplomat emphasized.

Borrell made this statement after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's speech, in which he said that Ukraine is not capable of defeating Russia on the battlefield, and it does not matter who unleashed the aggression if people are now dying. In response, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Hungarian leader had absolved Russia of responsibility for its aggression against Ukraine and that Ukrainians would continue to fight until their territories were completely liberated from Russian occupation.
