87,655 children born in Ukraine in first half of 2024
In the first 6 months of the year, 87,655 babies were born in Ukraine, most of them in Kyiv - 9,695 boys and girls
Ukraine's Ministry of Justice reports.
It is noted that during the first half of the year:
- 9,695 children were born in Kyiv,
- 7,923 in the Lviv region,
- 6,962 in the Dnipropetrovsk region,
- 6,197 in the Odesa region,
- 4,947 in the Kyiv region,
- 4,532 in the Rivne region,
- 4,323 in the Zakarpattia region,
- 4,005 in the Vinnytsia region,
- 3,916 in the Ivano-Frankivsk region,
- 3,798 in the Kharkiv region.
At the same time, 72,766 marriages were registered in Ukraine in the first six months of 2024.
"Most marriage records were drawn up by civil registry offices in Kyiv (9,392), the Dnipropetrovsk (7,076), Odesa (4,896), Kyiv (4,848), Lviv (4,616), Kharkiv (4,148), Vinnytsia (3,362), Poltava (3,065), Cherkasy (3,001), and Khmelnytskyi (2,925) regions. Five times fewer couples (15,578) decided to end their marriage," the agency said.
The report adds that over the past six months, 4,605 Ukrainians have changed their names, surnames and/or patronymics.
Most often, this was registered in Kyiv (709), the Dnipropetrovsk (390), Lviv (329), Odesa (325), and Kyiv regions (291).
- In 2023, over 187,000 babies were registered in Ukraine: most of them were born in the capital and the Lviv region.
