Two key messages are embedded in Ukraine’s recent strikes on Russia — diplomat Taylor
Ukraine’s attacks on Russian aircraft and the Crimean Bridge show its strong military skills and clear strategic focus
William Taylor, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, shared his opinions in an interview with Anton Borkovskyi on the Studio West on Espreso TV.
He believes the painful strikes on Russia represent a major achievement and significant success for Ukraine. He emphasized that this development demonstrated two key aspects: first, it confirmed Ukraine’s technical and military capabilities and its ability to inflict substantial damage on Russia and its strategic targets. According to him, this was extremely important for weakening Russia’s capacity to carry out missile and air strikes on Ukrainian territory.
In William Taylor’s opinion, the second key aspect was that Ukraine’s actions demonstrated its determination and strategic focus. He stated that Ukraine not only possessed leverage but also had a clear vision of its goals and the will to act. According to him, Ukraine was determined to win and to drive Russian forces out, and this determination was clearly reflected in the drone attacks on Russian aircraft and the strike on the Crimean bridge.
- On June 1, 2025, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) carried out a major operation named Spider's Web to destroy Russian bomber aviation. According to the service, 40 aircraft were hit.
- On June 3, the SBU carried out another unique operation and struck the Crimean bridge for the third time, this time underwater. As a result, the object is in an emergency state.
- The Ukrainian Navy reported that due to the detonation of one of the Crimean bridge's supports, Russian forces may significantly limit the use of this object for logistical purposes.
