We agreed to buy Ukraine’s grain at a 25% discount, but there is a dilemma regarding export security - Turkish minister
If the ports are opened, Turkey intends to buy Ukrainian grain at a 25% discount, said the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci
The minister's statement was cited by Yeni Şafak.
Vahit Kirişci says that Turkey has reached an agreement with Ukraine to export grain at a 25% discount.
"However, they have the safe export of products dilemma, they want Turkish arbitration. Both Russia and Ukraine trust only us. We assure Ukraine that they will be able to export these products and Russia will not attack them when the green corridor opens. And we emphasise to Russia that they have to let Ukraine export, because the world needs grain. Turkey is trying to be the bridge between the two countries," he said.
Kirişci claims that Turkey is conducting intensive diplomatic mediations to open up Ukrainian grain exports. Meetings concerning the "creation of green corridors" with representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations are scheduled for this week.
