Turkey says no Russia-Ukraine meeting scheduled yet

A source in Turkish Foreign Ministry says there is “no scheduled meeting yet” between Russia and Ukraine, despite earlier claims from Moscow that talks were set for this morning and later pushed to the afternoon local time

CNN reported the information, quoting a source from the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

The following developments have been confirmed by the source:

  • A “technical” delegation from Russia has arrived in Istanbul.
  • Several U.S. officials are currently in the city.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in Ankara and is expected to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “soon.” 

Meanwhile, the NATO foreign ministers' meeting is ongoing in Antalya.

  • Historian and member of the expert council of the Center for Civil Liberties, Vyacheslav Likhachov, believes that the Ukrainian delegation will meet with the Russians in Turkey on May 15, but no serious results regarding a ceasefire should be expected.
