The Wall Street Journal reported the information, citing its own sources.
According to the outlet's sources, Trump is considering imposing sanctions on Moscow this week due to his frustration with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin — mainly over continued attacks on Ukraine and the slow progress in peace talks.
The new sanctions likely won’t target the banking sector, but one source said other options are being discussed. These could pressure Putin to make concessions at the negotiating table, including agreeing to a 30-day ceasefire.
At the same time, Trump may still choose not to move forward with the sanctions.

In particular, this concerns the seizure of Russian assets and the imposition of sanctions against individual buyers of Russian oil, as U.S. President Donald Trump refused to tighten sanctions.
