Timothy Snyder becomes United24 platform ambassador to raise funds for drone protection

Timothy Snyder has become the second ambassador of United24 (after actor Mark Hamill), who will focus his efforts on raising funds for the "Defence and Demining" direction. Snyder will raise funds for a system to counter UAVs, which Russia uses to constantly attack critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

"Timothy Snyder is an outstanding historian and true Ukrainian friend. In his writings he explains to the whole world the importance of Ukraine, its true history, its true values, how they were formed and why we protect them. I am also grateful that more people will know not only about reasons and conditions of our struggle, but also about how they can help us", Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Timothy Snyder emphasized that as historian and scientist, he also wants to raise money for restoration of libraries, schools and universities. But now it is more urgent to raise funds to help Ukraine defend itself against killer drones. So he set himself a goal of raising $1,250,000 for drone defense.

"I support Ukraine because it must win this war. Ukrainian victory will open itself and the world to democracy and give us all hope. But currently Ukraine is under threat. A large part of Ukraine is under occupation. Russia, violating all laws of war, seeks to kill the civilian population or deprive it of its basic means of existence - food, water and electricity. To protect Ukrainians, to protect Ukraine, and thus to protect values, we must stop these attacks", Timothy Snyder said.

Reference: United24 is a fundraising platform and the main place for collecting donations to support Ukraine. In six months, the platform collected $213 000 000 from citizens of 110 countries. United24 ambassadors include athletes Andriy Shevchenko, Elina Svitolina and Oleksandr Usyk, creative director of Balenciaga Demna, American actors Liev Schreiber and Mark Hamill, Imagine Dragons band, singer and actress Barbra Streisand, astronaut Scott Kelly.
