He did not do his military service, but when Russia invaded Ukraine, he himself went to the Military Commissariat and asked for a combat unit. That's how he got into the 128th Brigade.
"For two months, we underwent intensive combat training at the training grounds. We were taught to fire different types of weapons, the tactics of conducting urban battles, moving in pairs, as well as providing emergency aid. And then we were transferred to a combat position. It was very "hot" there, on the first day we were fired upon by enemy artillery and tanks, helicopters and aircraft fired from the air, and then the Russians went on an assault. But we repelled them", the shooter said.
According to him, during the entire period of the full-scale war, the closest enemies came within 70 meters to the fighters of the Zakarpattian Legion.
"It was a sabotage-reconnaissance group that discovered our positions. They opened fire on us, we shot back, and after that they threw mines at our firing points. During one such close combat, we shot two Russians, but later they were pulled back", the fighter said.
According to Ivan, the most difficult thing is to survive artillery and mortar attacks.
"There were moments when I thought - well, that's it. And then the fear passes and you're ready to fight again. I shot the Russians many times for damage. There was no psychological barrier - only a clear understanding that this is an enemy who came to my land, and it must be destroyed. Nothing else is given", the soldier added.
