There is a need to surround Kherson, capture or destroy Russian troops who do not have time to escape - US General Hodges
Military expert, former commander of the US Ground Forces in Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges noted that there is no immediate need for the Ukrainian army to enter Kherson.
He shared his take on events live with Espreso.TV.
"A good example of the Ukrainian General Staff's professionalism, methodicality and patience. A large group of Russian troops is concentrated on the right bank of the Dnipro river, and for now there is no need for Ukrainian army to immediately break through to Kherson. In this way, the Russians can avoid the destruction of the city with thousands of innocent Ukrainians still living there" Hodges noted.
He added that Ukraine's General Staff is working to create favorable conditions in the Kherson region.
"When these conditions arise, Kherson should be surrounded and those Russian soldiers who do not manage to escape should be captured or killed. I think that this is a reasonable decision of Ukrainian General Staff. I don't know how long it will take, I don't know the time frame, but I think that we will see it in the next few weeks" Hodges said.
