The transfer of fighter jets from Poland to Ukraine is still under discussion, - the leader of the Republicans in the US Senate
US Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell says the idea of arming Ukraine with military planes transferred from Poland is still under discussion.
This was reported by Reuters.
"I have not met anyone in the Senate who has not advocated that these MiGs (MiG-29 fighters) be brought to Ukraine. How exactly to do this is still being discussed," McConnell said on Tuesday, March 15.
The United States is working to speed up arms supplies to Ukraine. But last week, the Pentagon said the prospect of sending fighter jets from NATO territory to the war zone "is a matter of serious concern to the entire NATO alliance."
We remind you that Poland is ready to transfer the MiG-29 fighters requested by Ukraine to the American airbase in Germany, but asked Washington to provide other aircraft. The United States has rejected a proposal by Polish authorities to hand over MiG-29 fighters to support Ukraine.
The co-chairman of the Ukrainian faction, US Senator Rob Portman, considers it necessary to deliver the fighters to Ukraine.
