The sanctions at work: Russia fires pilots, flight attendants en masse
Firing staff is little more than a formality, since most civilian aircraft crews have been idle since March
Russian Telegram publication Baza reports the story.
Royal Flight (carrier for the tour operator Coral Travel) plans to fire about 250 people. They have already started receiving redundancy applications.
The move also affects Azur Air crews (Annex Tour carrier), most of which have also been idle since March. Baza reports that the airline will cut about 200 pilots.
The cuts caused by the sanctions will apply to other pilots, commanders and crew operating Boeing 737 and 777 planes. These aircraft were returned to the lessor and there simply turned out to be too many crews. They will not be retrained to operate other types of aircraft, as there are no vacancies.
The airlines will continue to operate the remaining Boeing 757 and 767 flights - they have been completely bought out or transferred to the Russian registry.
According to the Telegram channel Aviatorshchina, Royal Flight will fire all pilots, except for squadron commanders, and in Azur Air - almost all one-type pilots (with a permit for one aircraft type, Boeing 737 and 757) and those who have a permit for 757s/767s, as well as up to half of the flight attendants.
