"The hosts of Medvedchuk’s channels don’t want to air pro-Ukrainian channels?": Kniazhytsky called on to Danilov about the shutdown of Espreso, Pryamiy and Channel 5 from the air

"I have an open appeal to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Mr. Danilov. Today, the BBC correspondent, whose unlawful shutdown Mr. Danilov tried to justify, asked you about the illegal shutdown of Ukrainian patriotic channels. You gave an answer in which you demonstrated a complete misunderstanding of the functioning of the media in democratic countries. This is all the more insulting for me, because I consider you a decent, patriotic and responsible person", the people's deputy said.

Thus, the BBC writes in particular: "NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov, in an interview with BBC News Ukraine, commented on the shutdown of Espreso, Pryamiy and Channel 5 from digital air. According to Danilov, the authorities did not close either the channels of Petro Poroshenko or Espresso. Like, if they were taken away from the cable and the digital, then it remains possible to watch on YouTube or on satellite. Who told you that Poroshenko's channels are being closed, please tell me?... Watch them on YouTube, watch them on satellite, who tells you this at all? Poroshenko, as a wealthy person, can afford to support them, pay, etc. I would like to take it easy. We have a decision of the National Security and Defense Council, which says that national channels must participate in the national marathon.  If they want, let them join. Let them lead all these things", Danilov says. To the journalist's clarification that the channels themselves wanted to join the marathon, but they were not taken, Danilov replied that this is impossible

Kniazhytsky emphasized that there is no reference to the cause of illegal censorship in Ukraine.

"Mr. Danilov! I inform you that there is no written order from the authorities to exclude channels from the air", he wrote.

The people's deputy said that he did not understand at all what the NSDC secretary was commenting on, if there were no decisions of the authorities through the channels.

"Are you somehow involved in the closure of Ukrainian channels? I will never believe that such a smart man as you would agree to commit such a crime and disgrace yourself like that. The fact is that a petty scoundrel on the CRRT illegally turned off the channels and will be responsible for it. Also it is strange that you are writing about the marathon here. As far as I know, Espreso officially approached you and other bodies with a request to join the marathon. And your body and others either did not answer or wrote that it was not their competence. Do you know why? Because the hosts of Medvedchuk's channels and the Inter channel, which is controlled by the OPFL member Lyovochkin and Firtash, do not want to air pro-Ukrainian channels. Or "they are not there"?", said Kniazhytsky.

He recalled that in the last convocation of the Council he had the honor to head the Parliamentary Committee of the Ukraine-EU Association from Ukraine.  And the association agreement has a huge section on freedom of speech.

"Now every day I communicate with my friends, European deputies and parliamentarians of European countries. They are shocked by the actions of the scoundrel from the CRRT, who turned off the channels. In the questionnaire that Ukraine received for the EU candidate, there is a large section on freedom of speech. The one who turned off the channels leaves Ukraine outside the European Union. I hope that you, as a patriot, will not allow this", the people's deputy emphasized.

He noted that on April 14, the parliament adopted a resolution stating that it is inadmissible to turn off pro-Ukrainian channels.
 

"I urge you to follow its implementation. And the last request. Show this letter to Kyrylo Tymoshenko. I could be wrong, but it seems that he is in charge of information security in the OP, he has many creative ideas and is also a patriot", Kniazhytsky addressed Danilov.

On April 4, the RRT Concern turned off Espreso, Pryamiy and Channel 5 from digital air. The TV channels sent letters to the President, the National Security and Defense Council, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense and the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting.

The channels are asking the president to intervene and protect "the right of journalists who are professionally fighting on the information front to a profession and freedom of speech". They demand from the RRT Concern to resume broadcasting channels.
