Switzerland's largest provider starts broadcasting Espreso TV channel

Telecommunications company Swisscom has added the Ukrainian news channel Espreso to its free TV offer

Since 29 November 2023, Espreso TV channel is available in 1.36 million Swiss TV households.

“Since last year, we have been actively committed to ensuring that Ukrainian broadcasters can provide their Ukrainian citizens abroad with news and information from home and offer operators in the D-A-CH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland - ed.) various Ukrainian TV channels,” the statement says.

The report also cites UN information on the number of asylum applications from Ukrainians in the region: On September 22, about 66,000 applications were received in Switzerland, on October 11, about 1.1 million applications in Germany, and on November 6, about 80,000 applications in Austria. The number of refugees seeking protection in each country continues to grow.

Swisscom AG is the main provider of telecommunications services in Switzerland. According to Wikipedia, the Swiss government owns 51% of Swisscom Ag, Swisscom has a 59% share of the mobile market, 67% of the broadband market and 33% of the television market in Switzerland.
