Swiss president visits de-occupied Borodyanka and Ivankiv and meets with Zelenskyy
On October 20, the President of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis visited Borodyanka and Ivankiv in the Kyiv region that had been liberated from the Russian occupiers, and also met with President Zelenskyy
Swiss President Ignazio Cassis wrote on his Twitter about the meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"During my meeting with President Zelenskyy, I expressed my support for the Ukrainian people. We talked about humanitarian needs and Swiss assistance for Ukraine on a bilateral and multilateral level," Cassis wrote.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also wrote about the visit: "I welcome Swiss President Ignazio Cassis to Kyiv. This visit shows that it is impossible to maintain neutrality in times of the security challenges of our entire continent and humanity. Thank you for the principled condemnation of the criminal attempt to annex the territories of Ukraine and Switzerland's support for EU sanctions packages ".
The presidents reportedly discussed cooperation on countering Russian terror.
Swiss President Ignazio Cassis also tweeted about his visit to the de-occupied Borodyanka and Ivankiv.
"Appalled by the war of aggression against civilian infrastructure and moved by the resilience of Ukraine and its citizens in Borodyanka and Ivankiv. Humanitarian aid and reconstruction support are needed to overcome winter and beyond," Cassis wrote.
The Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine also reported that Cassis visited a reconstruction project in the village of Sukachi in the Ivankiv community of Kyiv region, which is financed by Switzerland.
"Wooden modular houses are being built in Sukachi, which will be used as emergency housing for citizens of Ukraine who have lost their homes," the report says.
