Swedish PM promises to provide Ukraine with Archer artillery system
Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson promised that Ukraine will receive self-propelled artillery systems Archer, the possibility of delivery was discussed last year
Kristersson said this at the conference of the non-governmental organization Society And Defense, Aftonbladet reports.
"I have always said that we strongly support providing (Ukraine) with this advanced weapons system. This work is ongoing, and I will get back to you as soon as we complete it," the Swedish PM said.
When asked why Archer self-propelled guns were not included in the military aid package approved by Kristersson's government in December, he replied that this equipment "was not at the top of Ukraine's wish list."
"Archer was and remains our top priority," he assured.
At the end of August 2022, the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ann Linde, reported that the Swedish government was considering the possibility of transferring Swedish Archer artillery installations and RBS70 portable anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine.
As Militarnyi notes, the artillery component of Archer is represented by a 155-mm FH 77B gun with a barrel length of 52 calibers. The charging device allows you to release six shells in 30 seconds along different trajectories.
The maximum firing range of Archer self-propelled guns is from 30 to 60 kilometers, and the maximum rate of fire is 8-9 shots per minute, deployment time of the system is 30 seconds.
Sweden has at least 48 Archer systems in service.
