The website of the Swedish Armed Forces reported the information.

"Aurora 23 will be the largest national exercise of its kind in more than 25 years," the Swedish Armed Forces say. Their goal is to strengthen the potential to counter an armed attack on Sweden.

The exercise will involve 14 countries and about 26,000 men and women. The participating countries, in addition to the exercise host, Sweden, will be the US, the UK, Finland, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Denmark, Austria, Germany, and France.

The exercises will take place in the air, on land and at sea in various parts of the country, mostly in southern Sweden, in and around Gotland. Participants will mainly use the armed forces' own training grounds and ranges, but will also conduct activities on private property.

"Exercises is a good way to enhance, signal and put our military capabilities to the test. Thus, conducting extensive and advanced exercises is key to creating a stronger defence," the Swedish Armed Forces add.
