Support for Ukraine under "Danish model" to increase to €1.3 billion this year
Defense support for Ukraine under the "Danish model" will grow to €1.3 billion in 2025. Part of the funding will come from revenues generated by frozen Russian assets
This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov.
"This is an investment in our victory – in weapons made in Ukraine, in the security of all of Europe," Umerov said.
According to him, the first tranche of €428 million will come from Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Norway, and Iceland.
"The money will soon go toward producing Ukrainian-made weapons: artillery, strike drones, missiles, and anti-tank systems created in Ukraine for our soldiers," the defense minister added, noting that the decision followed talks with his Danish counterpart, Troels Lund Poulsen.
"The Danish model is a unique mechanism of direct support for Ukraine’s defense industry. It shows trust in our army, recognition of our manufacturers' capabilities, and real help in strengthening the Defense Forces of Ukraine," Umerov stressed.
The minister also noted that Ukraine is preparing "new strategic decisions – both for Ukrainian companies to invest in Ramstein countries and for European defense companies to start production in Ukraine."
"I’m grateful to Denmark for its leadership. And especially to Minister Poulsen for his unwavering support for Ukraine," Umerov added.
- Under the agreements reached in 2024 through the "Danish model," the Ukrainian Armed Forces received weapons worth nearly €538 million.
