Strategic defeat of Russia: the new Italian leadership strengthens its support for Ukraine

According to the Italian media (la Repubblica), Mr. Adolfo Urso, a member of the Italian parliament, is visiting Ukraine on September 9.

This is a crucial geopolitical event that affects how European politics and the continent as a whole will develop in the nearest future.

Mr. Adolfo Urso serves as the President of the Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic (COPASIR), one of the top figures in the "Brothers of Italy" (Fratelli d'Italia), in addition to being a prominent parliamentary figure, a senator, and a deputy in five convocations of the Italian Parliament.

the leader of the national-conservative political party Brothers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, who is expected to win the next elections in Italy on September 25 and become Prime Minister, counts Adolfo Urso as a trusted friend.

Urso's visits shows Italy's support for Ukraine

The outcomes of Mr. Urso's mission, which certainly shows that Italy increases its support for Ukraine and might be kept a secret, are quite significant. However, the very fact that Georgia Meloni's trusted ambassador was sent to Kyiv three weeks before the most significant elections of her life makes a very clear and powerful signal. It reveals the objectives and direction of the next Italian government.

Urso will visit Washington

La Repubblica reports that Urso's next trip will be to Washington after he visits Kyiv, just before the elections. Adolfo Urso will likely have a key role in the new Italian executive branch, so the goal of this trip may be to consolidate the plans of the Italian and U.S. governments, synchronize joint measures, and enhance personal bilateral contacts at the highest level.

All of this is bad news for Russia. It will imply that all of their efforts to increase their influence over Italy and persistent efforts to persuade Italian leaders failed because of Russia’s awful war against Ukraine, Europe, and the entire West.

Russia's efforts in Italy failed

Future Italian leadership has decided to deepen its support for Ukraine and ties with the Euro-Atlantic Alliance as a consequence of Russia's war, atrocities, killings, and Moscow's attempts to blackmail Europe using gas supply.

Ms. Meloni made this decision out of pragmatism, forward-thinking, and morality. It also serves as evidence of the conservative Italian political branch's strategic, long-term planning in the international relations.

It's reasonable to think that Georgia Meloni and Liz Truss, the incoming British prime minister, will effectively communicate in the security area and support for Ukraine as well.
