Stoltenberg: NATO is not a party of war, we do not send our soldiers to Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Alliance is not a party to the war in Ukraine, because it does not send its soldiers to the front and does not transfer aircraft.

NATO Secretary General stated this in the interview with Welt.

"On the first day of the Russian invasion, NATO decided to support Ukraine. At the same time, we ruled out NATO's participation in war. NATO is not a party of war and will remain so. We do not send our troops or NATO aircraft to Ukraine. But we support them with weapons," Stoltenberg said.

He reminded that Russia attacked Ukraine, therefore, it is essentially a "war of aggression against an independent, sovereign, democratic state."

"Ukraine has right to self-defense under the UN Charter, and we have right to help them defend this right," NATO Secretary General stressed.
