Spain joins EU agreement to supply ammunition to Ukraine

On Wednesday, Spain announced that it would join the initiative approved the day before to purchase one million artillery shells for Ukraine within a year

This is stated in a statement by the Spanish Ministry of Defense, according to European Pravda.

"After completing the necessary administrative formalities, the Minister of Defense (of Spain - ed.) signed a project agreement on Wednesday on the joint purchase of ammunition within the European Union," it said.

Thus, Spain became the nineteenth country to participate in the project.

Its purpose is, first, to increase the supply of artillery ammunition to the Armed Forces; second, to introduce joint procurement by European states and accelerate its pace to replenish their own stocks; and third, to rapidly increase the production capacity of the European defense industry.

At the same time, the agreement was signed by Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, and Norway.
