Some foreign parts disappear from Russian drones due to sanctions
Some foreign components have disappeared from Russian drones due to sanctions, but the Russians have extensive experience in military drone manufacturing
Artem Viunnyk, director of the Athlon Avia UAV manufacturing company, said this on Espreso TV.
“This morning we examined a new sample (of a Russian drone - ed.) that came to us. It is one of Orlan-10. It is quite fresh, and it must be said that some foreign components that we previously observed in earlier versions of Orlans, have disappeared from it,” he noted.
According to Artem Viunnyk, instead of them there are, if not civil, then industrial solutions, which testifies to the effectiveness of sanctions. To some extent, this worsens the technical characteristics of Russian UAVs.
“However, one should not underestimate Russia's military industry, namely the unmanned segment, because the experience of the companies that produce UAVs is quite extensive. They started much earlier and 20 years ago they took a different path: they bought Israeli licenses and carried out development on the basis of aircraft and complexes. The Israeli experience is still several decades old. So, they are doing quite powerful things, but we have something to oppose these developments from our side and we are working on it,” Artem Viunnyk noted.
