Slovakia ready to transfer MiG-29s to Ukraine, train pilots to fly American F-16s
Slovakia has once again confirmed its readiness to provide Ukraine with MiG-29 aircraft, which it no longer uses, and to provide training for Ukrainian pilots on American F-16 fighters

Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Naď said this during a media briefing.
“Since October 1, Slovakia no longer uses the MiG-29. We are ready to hand over these aircraft to Ukraine so that it can defend itself and we are not going to hand them over to anyone else. Now the issue of handing over these aircraft is being considered by the Slovak government,” he said.
Naď added that the Slovak Air Force is ready to train Ukrainian pilots to fly American F-16 fighter jets, but they have not yet arrived from the United States.
“We will gladly provide this training, but now the priority for us is to transfer the MiG-29 to Ukraine,” Jaroslav Naď added.
The MiG-29 (NATO codename: Fulcrum) is a fourth-generation Soviet multipurpose fighter. It was the main multi-purpose fighter of the countries of the Warsaw Pact and the USSR during the 80s of the 20th century. Currently, it is in service with many countries of the world, including Ukraine.
