Situation on Belarusian border is under control, no movement of enemy equipment or troops is observed
Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, says about 9,000 Russian troops may be on the territory of Belarus
He said this on Espreso TV.
“The situation on the border with Belarus remains fully under control. Of course, this area continues to be tense, as joint exercises of Russian and Belarusian units are constantly being conducted on the territory of Belarus, and now the aviation component is still underway. However, we do not observe any movement of equipment or personnel of Russian and Belarusian units near the border; they are mostly located at Belarusian military training grounds. On average, there may be about 9,000 Russian troops on the territory of Belarus,” the spokesman for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service commented.
Andrii Demchenko noted that Belarus continues to support Russia by providing its infrastructure, airspace, and training grounds, i.e., it is used as a training base for Russian units that, after the exercises, are transferred to Russia to possibly enter the east.
“Unfortunately, our border with Russia is being shelled daily in the Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions. The shells repeatedly hit civilian houses and destroy the infrastructure of our settlements,” Demchenko said.
