Shahed 'catchers': how mobile fire groups defend Ukrainian skies
Invading Russian forces continue to attack Ukraine, using Shahed drones and cruise missiles. Mobile fire groups play an important role in protecting airspace
Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, reported this.
"The Russian enemy does not stop attacking the territory of Ukraine using barrage munitions and cruise missiles. Mobile fire groups also play an important role in protecting the airspace. Such groups perform tasks in different directions," he said.
After receiving the air alert signal, mobile firing teams of border guards promptly move to their designated positions. Once on the ground, the guys track air targets and destroy them. Such combat work helps to strengthen air defense. For example, in October alone, the border guards destroyed a dozen enemy Shaheds.
According to the spokesman for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, work is underway to increase their number and train new mobile air defense fire teams.
"These teams hone their skills. They are used constantly, and their result is the safety and life of people, the security of infrastructure and residential buildings. The effectiveness of such groups is achieved by the cohesion of the crews. Each serviceman is constantly improving his shooting skills. The groups discuss the actions of each soldier to be an effective team in countering enemy attacks," he concluded.
